motivation in a tangle of lies

It is better, if one were without a choice, not to listen to what people say, but more to their motivation for saying it in the first place. It will tell us more and be grist for our bone fide built-in dung detectors. Also note the emphasis, which will reveal much as well. We see politicians talk. See, rather than listen, because they speak of things they never do and never truly think of doing. They want to get elected and will tickle your ears with anything they think you want to hear. Still, I do not call them liars because that is the job of another spirit I prefer not to entangle myself. It is not fruitful to open up a line of conversation about any particular person telling lies. Just as a man calls another a liar because he himself is a liar, he may often be projecting out from himself what he accuses others of doing. The deepest liar, like the most shallow of liars, thinks others are lying because he himself is doing it and if you are not lying, then why aren't you? It is a good idea not to have anything to do whatever with specific lies. What good would be accomplished anyway, or tell others about yourself, that one was an expert on the lies of other people?
